Submission Guidelines

There are three types of submissions that can be made to Forest of Delusions, but each follows similar rules in order to ensure the satisfaction of the audience.

Artwork: We will accept your original artwork to be displayed in the Guest Art section. Anything you submit must be your own work. No tracing or stealing from other people. Using something as a reference is different from tracing, so as long as you don't copy it line for line. Try even then to put your own twist on it. Original characters are the preference, but fanart will be accepted as long as it follows the other guidelines.

Keep the art decent. No pornographic imagery will be accepted. Please keep your subjects clothed or covered in proper manner (of course, if your art does not include a humanoid figure, you don't need to adhere to this). Due to limited account space, only JPEG and GIF files will be accepted. Please keep files as small as possible. Anything over 150KB will likely not make it onto the site. So shrink and compress those pictures. If it is high-quality artwork, and you feel that making it smaller would destroy it, mention it in your e-mail along with the image in question. Exceptions might be made.

Characters: If you have a role-playing character that you think deserves to be remembered and shared, you might be able to find a new home for that character in the Forest of Delusions. We encourage you to write a bio of your character, being as thorough as you like. The more descriptive, the better.

Submissions for the Character Section are not required to follow the layout established by the characters of the creators, but it is recommended. Should your character's bio contain questionable content, it might not be posted. Use your best judgement when it comes to this. We would prefer serious character bios. This still means you can submit your character that enjoyed joking around. What it bars, however, is characters created solely as a joke. For example, a "medieval pimp with a pipe full of weed named G-Funk" would not be accepted.

When it comes to characters, there is no restriction on the setting of the game the character has come from. Post-apocalyptic, modern day, medieval, or sci-fi can all be put up on the site, as long as they follow the afforementioned guidelines (which can't be at all hard to follow). Characters should be submitted in .doc or .html format.

Writing: The third form of submission is Writing. As people trying to work our way into the writing world, we can relate to other amatuer authors out there, and would love to help them make names for themselves in any small part. Thus, you are encouraged to submit your writing to the site. Once again, make sure the work you submit is your own. Plagiarism is a crime, and we in no way condone it. We can't make any threats, however, other than we will not post the piece and will attempt to contact the original author. So just don't do it!

Poetry, short stories, and novels will be accepted. It is preferred that submitted writing be related to the fantasy, sci-fi, or horror genres. Being aspiring young writers, we do not seek to censor the content of your submitted writing, and will change nothing within it. What you submit is what will be posted. How can a story not get posted? Frequent spelling and grammatical errors, highly questionable content, incredibly explicit sex scenes, and lack of plot are all things that send a piece to the "Rejected" pile. We are not going to be harsh when it comes to these things, so please don't let it make you think twice about submitting. It can never hurt. We will even give you a review and whatever help we can on it (though time for us is limited with school and work, don't expect much more than an e-mail pointing out some things about your piece). Submit writing in .doc, .html or .htm form (writing submitted in .doc format will be converted to .htm format, which might cause a change in appearance. If you see this and want it fixed, contact us).

For Your Reassurance: Anything that you submit to Forest of Delusions remains yours. By allowing us to post your work on the site, you do not give up any copyrights you might have had on it. Your work will still belong to you. We're not here to steal from you. Anything and everything that you submit to us remains your property (assuming that it was yours to begin with), and we will take it down if you ever make that request.

How To Submit: Now that we've gotten through all of that, we can tell you how to submit your work. It's really quite simple. All you need to do is write an e-mail to forestofdelusions@hotmail.com. Just attach your art, character, or writing to the e-mail. Be sure to keep it in the proper file format for each submission type detailed above. Finally, make sure that the subject of the e-mail states that it is a submission (and preferrably what kind). Anything that you might submit will be reviewed before being posted. Thus, art will be viewed carefully, and writing will be read thouroughly. If what you sumbitted isn't suitable for being posted, you will recieve an e-mail notification within a few days.

That about covers it. Hope that it wasn't so incredibly long that you just gave up after the first paragraph and decided not to submit anything. It's really not as complicated as it seems...we look forward to your contributions!
